Leadership Shakeup Hits Streaming Giants Following Massive Fox and Roku Merger

Fox Corporation is restructuring its executive ranks following the official closure of its 22 billion dollar acquisition of Roku. In a series of organizational shifts announced to employees, the company confirmed that two high profile leaders, Tubi CEO Anjali Sud and Roku Media President Charlie Collier, will not be joining Fox Corp. While Sud is credited with transforming Tubi into a powerhouse within the free, ad supported streaming market, she is stepping away to pursue new opportunities outside the firm after helping manage the current transition.

Taking over the reins at Tubi is Pete Distad, a former Apple executive who already leads the Fox One streamer. His expanded portfolio will now include both Tubi and Frndly TV, with newly promoted president Mike Bidgoli reporting directly to him. Meanwhile, Mustafa Ozgen is set to step in as the CEO of Roku, succeeding founder Anthony Wood. Ozgen will maintain oversight of Roku’s hardware and technology divisions while adding responsibility for various ad tech platforms and subscription services like Howdy.

The leadership exodus extends beyond Sud and Collier, as Senior Vice President and General General Counsel Chris Handman and Executive Vice President Robyn Peterson are also departing. Despite these exits, Fox executives emphasized that Roku’s open platform remains central to their strategy. This consolidation comes at a time of significant financial momentum for both entities, with recent quarterly reports showing an impressive jump in advertising revenue for both organizations.

To address employee concerns during this period of upheaval, Fox has scheduled a series of town hall meetings across major hubs including San Jose, Los Angeles, Austin, and New York. Company chairs Anthony Wood and Paul Cheesebrough admitted that they may not have all the answers immediately but promised transparency as they integrate the diverse array of properties under the Fox Digital Platforms umbrella.
