Geopolitical Calm Sparks Bitcoin Recovery as Bears Get Squeezed
Bitcoin managed to claw back significant losses this week, stabilizing near 82,600 dollars after a sudden wave of geopolitical relief hit the markets. The rally followed comments from President Donald Trump, who pledged that the United States would refrain from striking Iran prior to next month's midterm elections. This shift toward a more diplomatic tone eased investor nerves and pulled the leading cryptocurrency away from a Thursday low of approximately 80,400 dollars, effectively flipping the script on traders who had bet against the asset.
The rapid bounce back put immense pressure on bearish traders, triggering liquidations as those betting on a continued slide found themselves caught on the wrong side of the trade. While Bitcoin recovered strongly, other digital assets didn't fare as well. Ether dipped slightly to around 2,500 dollars, continuing to struggle after a volatile session that saw ether positions wiped out far more aggressively than bitcoin ones. Solana also lagged behind the pack, slipping nearly four percent to hover around 110 dollars.
Market analysts suggest that this dip served as a crucial test for Bitcoin's long term health. According to Alex Kuptsikevich of FxPro, the drop to 80,400 dollars touched the coin's 50 day moving average, a technical level that has consistently acted as a floor for buyers since July. By bouncing off this support level, Bitcoin confirmed that there is still strong appetite for the asset during temporary pullbacks, reinforcing a positive medium term trend despite short term volatility.
Beyond the crypto space, Trump's remarks sent ripples through traditional financial markets as well. Crude oil prices slid below 103 dollars a barrel, easing immediate concerns about inflation and potential interest rate hikes from the Federal Reserve. Meanwhile, stock futures showed modest gains fueled by optimistic revenue projections for OpenAI, suggesting a broader return to risk appetitive behavior across both Wall Street and the digital currency landscape.
